Manchester City have agreed a fee of £50 million with Tottenham for right-back Kyle Walker, sources have told skysports.

The move for the 27-year-old allows City to bounce back quickly from the disappointment of losing out of signing another right-back, Dani Alves, to Paris Saint-Germain.

City had seemed to be in pole position to sign Alves on a free transfer from Juventus, but the Brazil international knocked them back to join PSG on Wednesday.

A source said PSG doubled the salary that was on offer to Alves from the Premier League club, with City manager Pep Guardiola “furious” about the U-turn.

But City have already moved on, as sources say a £50m fee has been agreed with Tottenham, and Walker will undergo his medical on Friday ahead of completing the move. He will then fly to the United States with City for the International Champions Cup.

City and Spurs have reportedly been locked in negotiations over the defender for weeks, with Guardiola’s side originally reluctant to offer more than £40m.

Walker was not always first-choice at Tottenham last season and found himself on the bench for key games towards the end of the campaign, with Kieran Trippier selected ahead of him.

City were in desperate need for a right-back, having been left without any senior player at that position after having released Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna earlier this summer.
